Summer Solstice celebration with Crystal Cymbalogy

https://marktwainlibrary.org/.../summer-solstice.../

Join us for a magical evening as we welcome the arrival of summer with a very special Summer Solstice Celebration, outside on the Library’s beautiful new loggia, surrounded by the natural beauty of Redding and the Saugatuck River.

This celebration features an evening of music, meditation, ritual and sound healing by Crystal Cymbalogy, a collective of extraordinary musicians who blend global rhythms, sacred sound, and improvised ritual to create a concert experience like no other.

About the Experience:
This concert is more than music — it’s a ritual for healing and reconnection. The evening will begin with gentle movement to release what no longer serves us, followed by an improvised concert that draws on the innate wisdom of the natural world and the collective field we create together. Expect to end the night grounded, renewed, and cradled by immersive sound.

Please Note:

  • Concert will run from 7:00 to 8:30. A reception will immediately follow the concert.

  • Come dressed to celebrate the season!

  • Chairs will be provided, blankets are welcome.

  • In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved indoors.

  • Children are welcome to attend, but need to be closely monitored because there will be a small fire bowl at the celebration

Meet the Artists:

Premik Russell Tubbs joins Stephane along with other world class musicians, as he invites you to an intimate evening of music, wine and community at the Thalia Bar at Symphony Space on Tuesday, March 25th to support his Django à Gogo Music Festival & Guitar Camp.

Since 2003, this annual festival celebrating the unparalleled musical legacy of jazz guitarist and composer Django Reinhardt has united some of the world's most exceptional musicians to honor the timeless essence of Sinti guitar style. Django à Gogo brings together world-class musicians from France, Canada, the U.S., and beyond for four unique concerts, reinterpreting and evolving Reinhardt’s repertoire through improvisation and cross-cultural collaboration. Django á Gogo also offers a "Guitar Camp," a 5-day immersive series of workshops, instructional classes, and jam sessions led by Stephane and the esteemed performers at the festival.

At this gallant event, the evening’s music will transport you with a rich blend of Impressionist melodies, traditional French musette, classic Gypsy tunes, and Django Reinhardt’s signature fiery swing—infused with hints of Tango, Jobim, and New Orleans flair.

As a special thank-you, attendees will receive an exclusive, limited-edition recording, available only at this event.

From the deep folk roots of her musical beginnings, Joni’s music has evolved over the years to include elements of funk, rock and the full palette of harmonic colors embodied by modern jazz. Her innovative guitar tunings and brilliantly original chord progressions were paired with beautifully crafted melodies adorned by lyrics of unmatched poetic profundity to create some of the most powerfully enduring and well-loved songs of all time.

The Joni Project is fronted by remarkable Long Island based multiple-instrumentalist and songwriter Katie Pearlman on guitar & vocals and also includes jazz and jam band mainstays Dave Berg on guitar, Dan Ehrlich on bass, Alan Lerner on drums, Mark Mancini on keyboards, Steve Finkelstein on percussion, Premik Russell Tubbs on saxophone and flute, and Victoria Faiella on background vocals. Collectively, they’ve performed with Carlos Santana, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Sting, Whitney Houston, James Taylor, members of the Grateful Dead, The Band, The Doors, the Neville Brothers and many others.

Together they bring fresh interpretation to Joni’s legendary tunes from their many eras and genres- particularly from the time of her stunning and dynamic collaboration with Jaco Pastorius, Pat Metheny and Michael Brecker.

What sets The Joni Project apart from other Joni Mitchell tributes?

Katie Pearlman performs the songs in Joni’s tunings. Joni invented her own way of playing the acoustic guitar by tuning the guitar many different ways to achieve the sound she is renowned for.

Past Performances include NYC’s Highland Ballroom, multiple appearances at the Great South Bay Festival on Long Island, and they recently performed the album Court and Spark at the Patchogue Theatre to an audience of 800 people.

An Evening of Kirtan & Sacred Chant with Carrie Grossman & Special Guest: Premik Russell Tubbs

Free Your Heart - Premik will join devotional singer Carrie Grossman for an evening of Kirtan & Sacred Chant on November 22nd in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Carrie Grossman (Dayashila), MA, sings soothing, heavenly chants and is a lifelong student of the mystical traditions. For over 20 years, she has studied the art of sacred sound, guiding people into the sublime realms of the heart through her concerts, workshops, and retreats.

At the age of 21, Carrie first traveled to India where she was introduced to kirtan (call and response mantra chanting). The beauty of the practice inspired her to sing, but due to shyness and self-doubt, 10 years went by before the music within her emerged. It wasn’t until a difficult life period that she began to write songs and play the harmonium. She has since produced several albums, including Soma-Bandhu: Friend of the Moon (2010), The Ram Sessions (2016), Pranam (2017), and Homeward (2019).

Carrie began her journey as a scholar, earning degrees in Religious Studies from Brown University (BA) and Naropa University (MA), but ultimately she longed to experience the teachings directly. This desire led her to study with some of the world’s great masters and to receive further training and certification in yoga, mind-body medicine, and the healing arts.

Also a prolific writer, Carrie is the former editor of Common Ground magazine. She is deeply influenced by her longtime spiritual teacher Amma, and the many guides and mentors she’s had along the way.
